Like nature, winter is a time for rest, renewal, and gestation. It is also a time for reflection and deep listening.
At Praxis Hub in Bergerac, for the past three years, together with the different guests of our residencies, we have been refining an ecology of co-living. Thanks to the hundred or so people who have visited the Hub, and the various formats we’ve offered (residencies focused on a particular training, themed residencies, and open residencies), we have shaped a design capable of addressing the great question of co-existence, as we move towards a future we dream of being more community-oriented than individualistic.
Over these three years, I’ve been particularly interested in the concept of the container rather than the content . Since 2022 my focus has been f on developing a structural design that activate a new way of being with others and the world, while respecting the need for isolation embedded in our cultural DNA. This is the ecology of praxis, based on five core practices. With this design, we meditate, cook, and circle together while also integrating personal time.
Throughout these three years, we’ve received many testimonies. For some, attached to a specific notion of freedom, this structure is not suitable, but for others, this design generates more energy, joy, and a calmer perspective on the world.
Here are a few testimonies we’ve received:
People leave more inspired and enthusiastic, and most want to return.
No one can define exactly what it is they experience, but the word "home" comes up often.
Some share a deep transformation, which they relate to a kind of self-liberation.
Living together brings back the joy of childhood and a willingness to play more, be silly, and creative.
Most residents have stated that this type of collective praxis design is exactly what they need to stay motivated in their work
This DDS space gives them the opportunity to express their ideas and emotions, including those that are difficult to contain.
People feel allowed to be vulnerable within the group.
Most residents recognize the value of the "tenzo" practice, both in terms of balanced nutrition and kitchen or table-setting practices, and as an integral part of a systematic experience necessary for community resilience.
These testimonies inspire us to nurture and expand this experience by sharing it. In 2025, we will be developing a praxis design tool for those interested in conscious co-living, centered around the heart of any community: a food system that is both pragmatic and transformative.
Sharing a proposal that can respond to the challenges of the world through a different way of being, within community spaces, is at the heart of the theory of Praxis, whose foundation remains the contemplative activism. The key question is: how can we create spaces that enable each individual to transform their capacity for action, starting from a space of inner transformation embodied within the collective field?
Through our toold and residencies, we wish to support this very particular time in our history and explore how we can listen better o the future.
