SAFER Residency
September saw us welcome the Strategic Adaptation For Emergency Resilience (SAFER) residency lead by Liam Kavanagh and Rupert Read from The Climate Majority Project. Here are some words from Rupert Read, co-host of this residency:
In the first week, mainly facilitated by CMP and Life Itself co-founder Liam Kavanagh with the help of Jadzia Tedeschi, participants dove into the culture of the climate movement to date. This included reflecting on the qualities of spaces that don't scare people away if they are not 'green enough', 'progressive enough', don't speak in a certain way ... This kind of reflection for us was an inward-looking process, in which we could notice our own in-group tendencies and subculture – it is also an inquiry which has to lie at the heart of community living and resilience: most projects that involve community living break down due to unspoken misalignments between their members ... and local adaption will require us to learn how to share spaces and resources with each other, far more than we are currently used to.

In this residency there were enthusiastic discussions, joyful meals including the famous fritters of Mark, an imagination and resilience workshop faciltated by Charlotte Du Cann (Dark Mountain) who also conducted our equinox ritual.

And some photos from the Safer residency including market shopping, moon watching and a talk from the author of The Deluge with Stephen Markley!
